As temperatures drop we should all take some time to prepare for inclement weather. I have pulled together a list of resources I find helpful in preparing for winter weather and staying safe. I especially encourage you to review the reccomended items for your emergency preparedness kits for home and your vehicle, as well as tips to keep your pets safe and healthy during the winter months. I have also found it helpful to print out emergency numbers to keep handy in the event of power outages.
In honor of the holiday season I would like to share a list of just a few of my favorite area organizations working hard to keep our community healthy, safe, and thriving. I hope you'll consider making a contribution (time, money, or both!) to one of these worthy organizations. And please share your favorites and I'll add them to the list!

Editor: Del. Kathleen Murphy (D-34th) is a tireless advocate in Richmond for expanding Medicaid to an estimated 400,000 Virginians who have no health care.
