Letter to the Editor: Del. Murphy working to support Virginians in need

Editor: Del. Kathleen Murphy (D-34th) is a tireless advocate in Richmond for expanding Medicaid to an estimated 400,000 Virginians who have no health care.

Despite losing millions of dollars each day in federal money, the Republican-controlled House of Delegates has repeatedly blocked Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act. In these times of disarray among Republican leaders on a health-care solution, we need a leader who reaches across the aisle like Del. Murphy.

Del. Murphy has partnered with Gov. McAuliffe, her legislative colleagues across the commonwealth, patient activists, and hospital and physician groups toward providing health care for those underserved.

Northern Virginians deserve a consistent voice and proven leader in Richmond who will work with Democrats and interested others to improve the health of our population. Del. Murphy offers just that experience at a critical time.
